Sunday Was Created For Breakfast

We've been slacking on breakfast lately. I'm happy we were able to get out and have breakfast this past Sunday. We went to a trendy place in Saint Paul called Hope Breakfast and Bar. It's not too far from The Xcel Energy Center. 

This restaurant is pretty small with a maximum occupancy of 75. The downstairs has seating for breakfast. The upstairs has a waiting area that serves Mimosas and Bloody Mary's. Be careful going up and down the stairs as they are steep. 

The menu is filled with various breakfast and drink options. They have options available for those who eat meat and those who do not. That's always a plus in my book. 

Our family chose a few options to share including Cereal Milk French Toast, Buttermilk Pancakes, Chicken Fried Steak, BBQ Shrimp and Grits and The Hope Breakfast with the hash browns smothered.

We are happy to say that everything we ate was good. Hope Breakfast does breakfast the right way. If you are going to stop in be sure to get there early and let us know how you like it. 

Trax Burgers and Bar

Trax Burgers and Bar is a new restaurant connected to The Fillmore in Minneapolis. We stopped in for Restaurant Week on Sunday where they offered great lunch specials. Read more to see what we thought. 

Drunk Chicken

Crispy fried chicken breast, bourbon butter, coleslaw, bread & butter pickles, Buffalo aioli

While there are several toppings to give this sandwich flavor, my suggestion would be to actually season the chicken itself. When the chicken is tried alone it is tasteless. I was not a major fan of the aioli and took off the half of the  bun that had it on there. The chicken was cooked to perfection and very juicy.

Trax Burger

Brisket & short rib blend double patty, American cheese, little gem lettuce, tomato, red onion, IPA mustard aioli, Nueske’s bacon ketchup, bread & butter pickles

This was also a juicy sandwich that lacked  flavor. We were once again not fans of the aioli. Crazy! We really like aiolis. 

Mac 'N Cheese Crunch

Fried mac ‘n cheese, triple cheese mornay, San Marzanoragu, green onion, Parmesan cheese

I didn’t like this at first. The outside seemed overcooked and the macaroni inside lacked flavor. It slightly grew on me the more I ate it. 

I know this is a new restaurant. I am hoping that as time goes on they improve. A little seasoning while cooking goes a long way. Also, give  us the option to upgrade to fries instead of potato chips. You guessed it. Those were also lacking flavor. 

Trax is in a beautiful space that will be even better once the weather warms up. I am sure they will start getting busy as more events happen at The Fillmore.  I am curious to know how their desserts are. I would go back and try them.

Self Care 101

I never had to worry about my skin too much, but as I’m getting older I’m noticing my face needs more pampering. Our top activities for a weekend with the ladies!

We work hard. We take care of our families. We deal with daily life struggles. Time to hang out with our girlfriends is crucial. You deserve some fun!

1. Brunch or dinner! Treat yourself to an amazing brunch or dinner. There are several great options, but some of our favorites are Nightingale, Lat 45, Handsome Hog, Victor’s, and JD Hoyts. 
2. Movies! We absolutely love getting together and going to movies. Our favorite theaters to go to are CMX at Mall of America and Showplace Icon.
3. Plays! Think outside of the box and go see a play at Penumbra or Guthrie. You won’t be disappointed.
4. Sleepover! You are never too old for a sleepover. Pick your favorite hotel or if you want a different view drive up to Beacon Pointe in Duluth. 
5. Get active! Go skating at Rollergardens. Try Nerfwars at Tactical Urban Combat or  go for a ladies night at Skyzone.
6. Get pampered! Spend a day getting a massage at Escape to Paradise, LLC or facials and other services at Just for Me Spa.
